Charity
Every year the Captains of Royal Mid-Surrey choose a local charity to support which they may be involved with or which is important to them. The Club will then hold a number of fundraising activities and raise monies throughout the year for the chosen charity.
The nominated charity this year is The Mulberry Centre, a local charity based in West Middlesex University Hospital.
The Mulberry Centre is an independent charity that provides practical and emotional support for cancer patients, their friends and family, carers and those bereaved by cancer.
The Mulberry Centre also supports anyone who has lost someone to cancer, should they in turn need support.
The Mulberry Centre offers a place for anyone affected by cancer to -
... talk in confidence.
... relax and recharge.
.. access information.
... find support from others
The Mulberry Centre is the culmination of a series of events. Fifteen years ago, the West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust launched its first major fundraising campaign under the heading of the Pulse Appeal.
West London needed a cancer support service - somewhere for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer to visit for information, advice and support.
Visits were made to similar centres around the country to gain an understanding of the viability of the service and its ongoing funding needs. The Mulberry Centre was then born.
A number of events and activities are being held throughout this year to help raise monies for The Mulberry Centre including:
Ladies' Charity Golf & Bridge - Mon 24 Feb
Mixed Club Charity Guest Day - Say 5 July
Foreign coin collections
And many more...
